Ludwig is reviving the Black Oyster Pearl drum finish that The Beatles' Ringo Starr played in 1964. The kit was well-known from The Beatles' debut on US TV, on The Ed Sullivan Show in 1964. The 'new' Liverpool 4 kit hosts the configuration and 3-ply shell of many classic Ludwig kits. It's the first Ludwig Legacy kit to feature standard-sized Classic lugs along with a new Rail Consolette tom mount.

The first 100 sets will feature Ludwig's 100th Anniversary badge on each drum.
